We moved our 9 year old son over to First Taekwondo because he was interested in competing at a state and national level. We are still thrilled to be a part of the First community more than 2 years later!
Our son has learned a tremendous amount of self-discipline and respect being a part of First Taekwondo. There are more Master level instructors at this dojang than we experienced elsewhere. All of the Masters and Instructors are very encouraging with all students, while helping them learn the intricacies of each form. This isn’t a belt factory where students are promoted just to generate more income to the school through additional testing fees and equipment. There are not long contracts that lock you in for 2 or 3 years. Grand Master Rubben and the other Masters clearly care about what they are doing and take the time to get to know each student.
Our son feels a tremendous sense of accomplishment through earning his belt by correctly completing the requirements of each belt test. It is a great community of students with all of the higher belts helping each other and the lower belts. Plus, all of the families at First Taekwondo are very welcoming and friendly to newcomers, making us feel right at home.

My daughter has trained with First Taekwondo since she was 5 years old.
In the beginning, I quickly noticed the discipline and structure FTKD Masters were instilling in her.
It was a no-brainer to keep her on her black belt journey and most importantly, setting a life routine to finish what we start. The goal was black belt. She’s 12 yrs old now with a 2nd degree blackbelt, part of the competition team and works with the instructors at FTKD to help train the generation of black belts.
Among many benefits, FTKD has helped develop her leadership skills, encourage a healthy physical training regimen and a confidence level surpassing most young kids her age. FTKD is part of our everyday life today and considered family!
